Everything you want to know about Eyelash Extensions
How are eyelash extensions applied?
There are three types of lash extensions: synthetic, silk and mink. Size availability ranges from 6mm to 17mm. Once selected, the lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent adhesive that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash. Haven Spa Boutique uses Formaldehyde free adhesive.
How long does it take?
Applying a full set of lashes takes about two hours, and can be maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every two to four weeks. The touch ups can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending upon the amount of lashes needed to be re-touched.
How we customize your look?
Everyone’s lashes are different and depending on the condition of your own natural lashes, lash experts can only go a certain length or thickness. This is to ensure that your own lashes remain healthy. For example, if your natural lashes are on the shorter, thinner side, you won't be able to get a dramatic Kim Kardashian look, because it won't last.
How long will my lashes last?
Each Lash extension is attached to a single eye-lash, the extension will fall out naturally along the growth cycle of each lash. Lash extensions last through the full growth cycle of your natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks. Each person’s lash growth is variable just like hair growth. So to maintain a full look we recommend a touch-up every no longer than every two to four weeks.
How do I know it’s safe?
Since your eyes are closed the whole time lash extensions are being applied, adhesive will never get into your eyes. At Haven Spa Boutique we use a formaldehyde free medical grade adhesive.
Will eye-lash extensions ruin my own lashes?
The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes. In addition, your lashes might fall out if you pick at them or try to pull them out yourself, which is a big no-no.
Can I still wear mascara?
We us an exclusive formula that provides volume, length, and curl with essential benefits for extended lashes. Regular mascara on the extensions is not recommended as it is hard to remove and can actually pull off the lashes prematurely when trying to take it off.

Maintaining your Luscious Lashes

Do remove all eye make-up including; mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow and foundation prior to your appointment. Contact lenses must be removed. It is advisable that you bring with you, a contact lense case so that you can properly store them until your treatment is over.

DON'T get your extensions wet for 24 hours after application. The adhesive will reactivate and may cause the lashes to stick together and look like caked-on mascara.

DO resist the urge to pull. If you pick, tug, twist or excessively touch or brush your extensions, it could damage your natural lashes. If at any time you don't wish to continue, always have them professionally removed.
DON'T let moisture-rich/oil based products get onto your lashes. Shampoo, conditioner, heavy creams or anything oil based will eventually loosen the bond. Tilt your head back when washing your hair or take a bath to avoid getting them wet.
DO reshape your extensions after you shower. Gently comb your lashes to fan them out or use a blow dryer set on "cool" to fan them back in place. Hold the blow dryer at arm’s length away from your face.
DON'T neglect your own lashes. Maintain the health of your natural lashes with an eyelash conditioner or growth serum. They help the hairs to stay in the follicle longer resulting in stronger support for the extensions.
DO have fun. Flaunt! Flirt! Be Fabulous! The best thing about lash extensions is that they are versatile and can be styled differently at every touch up appointment. For example, if you're going to Vegas, ask your lash artist to glam 'em up!
